Adult Christian Education

adultce

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION -- every Sunday at 9:45 am. A new curriculum, Feasting on the Word has been selected. Classes will include looking at the lectionary, having good discussions, teaching, and sharing. Teachers have been trained to be accepting of diverse thinking and trained to elicit discussion from participants. Sounds great! Join the class in the Fellowship Hall.

JOIN US FOR ADULT CHRISTIAN GROWTH - Sunday's Adult Christian Growth lesson from Feasting on the Word focuses on Acts 1:15-17 , 21-26, the story of the selection of Matthias to replace Judas among the twelve apostles. Entitled, "Can I Get a Witness?" the lesson reflects on ways in which the church identifies and empowers leadership for the sake of community and ministry. Led by Lisa Eaton, the class meets at 9:45 am in the Fellowship Hall. Participants are encouraged to read the lesson and the focus Scripture before the class to enrich the Sunday morning learning experience.

Chile Fest Book Sale

cf_book_sale

It’s time to officially start cleaning out your home bookshelves and bring those unwanted books to sell at the annual Chile Fest’s 15th Annual Benefit for Habitat for Humanity.

Get out all of those books that you’ve read or never read or that you’ll ever read, even those that you bought at previous year’s sales and donate them back again to the 2012 Book Sale.

How about those 45 rpm’s with the one-inch hole in the middle and those 13 inch LP’s that you’ll never listen to again? Bring them in. Your old stuff and clutter is someone else’s treasure.

We’ll accept new and gently read fiction. We’ll take textbooks, modern poetry, old poetry, history, alterno-history, eclectic literature, and classis literature. Even old comic books, cassette music tapes or video (VHS) video tapes, DVD’s, CD’s, etc. If it’s on paper, tape, or disc, this is your chance to donate it to the book sale.

Mark the box, package, or gunny sack for “CHILE FEST” (it helps if you do this), and leave it on the stage in the old sanctuary and we’ll take it from there.

See you at the Chile Fest Book Sale on Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th.

Thank you all,
George and Diane Kay, Co-Chairpersons of this year’s Book Sale
