Out and About with Congregational Life

Our congregation is very active in many ways. We had a great Annual Meeting and lunch on February 12, and we were able to seat everyone in the Fellowship Hall. The meeting ran smoothly, and the food was great. Dennis Birchard made wonderful brisket and coleslaw, and we also had lots of potluck dishes and tons of desserts. With crayons in hand, we wrote down on the paper tablecloths the ways in which SOTV has influenced us. Some members shared testimonies outlining the ways that SOTV has personally touched their lives.

Card Ministry will meet Saturday, March 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Lynn Chavez. Anyone interested in creating “get well” cards, “praying for you” cards, “thank you for visiting SOTV” cards, and prayer request cards for the Sanctuary pews is welcome. If you have never made cards before, don’t worry. We have many ideas for you to produce beautiful cards. Please contact Lynn Chavez.

Curtain Call will attend the musical “The Drowsy Chaperone” on March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Adobe Theater on Fourth Street. We already have 33 reservations! For more information of this group, contact Pat Dennis or Lynn Chavez.

Mah Jongg classes are held every Friday at 1:00 p.m. in the far west wing. The Wright-Patterson rules are being taught to those interested in learning this intricate game. For more information, contact Lynn Chavez.

The Walk to Walk group walks vary from 45 minutes to 90 minutes around the fields behind the church. We meet at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the back parking lot of the church. There will be an Easter Hymn Sing on Wednesday, March 21, at 7:00 p.m. In December we had an Advent Hymn Sing where we sang all our favorite Christmas hymns. Now that we are in the season of Lent, we are planning an Easter Hymn Sing to sing our favorite Easter hymns. “Jesus Christ is Risen Today!” is one of my favorites! We will start at 6:00 p.m. with a potluck dinner and the singing will start at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Come and join us in singing your favorite Easter songs! Contact Lynn Chavez.
